SCOBIE D’OH!

Book by Meghan’s ‘pal’ littered with errors including conspiracy theory about Princess Diana’s death

Harry and Meghan's mouthpiece, Omid Scobie, also claims the monarchy is unpopular

A BOOK by Prince Harry and Meghan’s mouthpiece is littered with errors and conspiracy theories.

Endgame, by Omid Scobie, widely seen as the couple’s go-to for favourable coverage, is to be released tomorrow.

But it has been criticised for its long list of discrepancies.

Chief among them is its claim Princess Diana died in a car crash in Paris in 1997 because her driver was blinded by a “major white flash” from a chasing photographer’s camera.

The book states that Diana's chauffeur Henri Paul was blinded by a "major white flash" from a paparazzi photographer on an overtaking motorbike.

It then goes on to say he lost control at sixty-five miles per hour and collided with a concrete pillar.

This theory was a key part of Mohamed Fayed’s conspiracy claims that Diana and his son Dodi were murdered as part of an Establishment plot ordered by Prince Philip.

Al Fayed said secret service agents blinded the Mercedes's driver, Paul, with a flash gun and it was part of the conspiracy to make the crash look like an accident.

French authorities and former Met Police chief Lord Stevens dismissed the suggestion.

The new book goes on to claim that both William and Harry believe the police inquest into their mother’s death – which puts much blame on Henri Paul for drunk driving – was a “joke.”

Endgame, which is set to be released on Tuesday, also claims the Palace lied by saying Camilla would not be Queen - despite Queen Elizabeth II saying it was her “sincere wish” in 2020.

Scobie also states the Royal Household’s diversity drive is a PR stunt.

But Prince Charles hired Colleen Harris, whose family are from Guyana, as press secretary in 1998 and British-Nigerian Eva Omaghomi as community engagement chief in 2021.

The book also says Charles did not try to fix his relationship with Harry after Megxit — even though Harry was invited to his Coronation.

Harry also turned down an offer to spend the anniversary of the Queen's death at Balmoral with his dad earlier this year.

And Scobie claims William distanced himself from Harry following his wedding to Meghan despite the brothers and their wives attending high-profile events afterwards.

Meanwhile, Charles is painted as a cheating husband who ruined Princess Diana’s life.

Yet both Charles and Diana admitted to infidelity in their marriage as it broke down.

Scobie, who also wrote Sussexes biography Finding Freedom, claims the monarchy is unpopular.

But a recent poll shows every age group supports the crown — and 66 per cent of people want it to remain.

The book also claims that Princess Kate and Meghan Markle last spoke four years ago.

But insiders pointed out that it is no surprise Meghan and Kate have not been in "direct communication" since 2019.

Harry and Meghan left for Canada that year with their baby son Archie, before later moving to a luxury pad in California.

Since then Meghan has only returned to the UK for four brief visits with Harry.

In spite of the fresh fire of damaging allegations against Charles and the extended royal family, he took time to find solace at church yesterday morning.

The King waved at onlookers and smiled as he was welcomed to the service wearing a long brown tweed coat and warm suede gloves.
