The handy hack can rid a car of winter condensation in seconds.

DRIVERS have found a new way to rid their windscreens of mist using an item worth less than 50p.

The handy hack was discovered by experts at LeaseCar and involves using a budget microfibre cloth to clean away condensation.

Similar cleaning items generally retail for cheap, with one packet of 24 clothes on Amazon for £11.52.

This breaks down to just 48 cent for each cloth.

LeaseCar's explained the best way for drivers to use the fabric is to "best to wipe in circular motions to avoid smudging".

Spokesman Tim Alcock said Rule 229 of the Highway Code makes clear how a car's windscreen should look.

“Drivers should always make sure to completely de-mist their windscreens before setting off or risk being slapped with a fine of up to £2,500 for breaking the Highway Code," he said.

“Don’t be tempted to just leave a small gap to see what is directly in front, as you could still be fined for careless driving by not being able to see the full road view ahead.”

Mr Alcock's advice comes as Britain has been hit with a plunge in the mercury, driven by Arctic air sweeping in.

It comes after a car cleaning whizz issued a warning to drivers over a potentially costly error.

Meanwhile, motorists have been discovering a hidden button behind their steering wheels with a very useful function.
