But inflation couldn’t be more evident as the prices of every chocolate box have gone up since last year.

Despite this, there is one supermarket that came top for the cheapest prices and that's Asda.

We've scoured the shelves to find the best price for some of the most popular chocolate boxes right now.

Cadbury Fudge, Cadbury Wispa, Cadbury Dairy Milk Little Bar, Cadbury Double Decker, Cadbury Dairy Milk Treatsize Buttons and a Cadbury Crunchie.

This selection box is selling for £2 in most stores like Tesco but Ocado has slapped on an extra 50p.

The cheapest supermarket to find the box is Asda which has it priced at £1.50.

Although this is a far cry from last year when the box was only 89p, it is also important to note some of the products are ‘treat sized’ as opposed to full size.

M&M's & Friends Christmas Selection Box (139g)

Next up the M&M's and Friends selection box, last year this was one of the cheapest boxes we could find.

But this year it’s lost its place to Cadbury as the cheapest.

However, unlike Cadbury, it seems supermarkets can agree on one universal price for this chocolate box.

You can find it in Tesco, Ocado and Asda for £2.50, 50p more expensive the last year.

Inside you’ll find M&M favourites like Crispy M&M's, Choco M&M's, Peanut M&M's plus Twix and Mars bars inside.

Galaxy lovers will be pleased to know their chocolate box is definitely on the more luxurious side this year.

Inside this box, there is a Galaxy Salted Caramel Bar, Galaxy Caramel, Galaxy Cookie Crumble, Galaxy Smooth Milk, and two Galaxy Ripples.

The cheapest place you find this is Asda for £3 but it’s a whopping £5 in Waitrose.

Although true fans may notice the weight is slightly less this year at 238g instead of the 244g available last year.

It wouldn't be Christmas without Maltesers and this year their chocolate box offers a real treat.

The Maltesers & Friends box contains one big bag of Maltesers, one small bag of Maltesers, Milky Way, Twix, Maltesers Reindeer, Maltesers Teasers bar, and Mars.

Iceland and Asda rank joint in being the cheapest supermarket to sell this box at £3, which is double the price it sold for last year.

Tesco and Sainsbury's have it a little pricier at £3.50.

Skittles & Friends Christmas Selection Box (150.5g)

Now if you are not exactly a chocolate fan there are still sweet treats to be had with the Skittles Christmas box.

This box contains a mixture of sweets and chocolate: A bag of Skittles crazy sours, a ‘fun size’ Mars bar, a Milky Way, two Skittles fruits and two Skittles darkside.

Most supermarkets have this box for the same price of £2.50.

If you’ve got a little bit more of a budget this year the Aero festive selection box offers a range of bubbly flavours.

You’ll find four Aero flavours in this box, peppermint, vanilla, orange and the classic smooth bubbly milk chocolate.

It does look like you will be getting full-size bars in this box but it will set you back a fiver.

But make sure to check in your local store - you never know when prices might change.

Before you splash out, you might want to think about the cost of buying each item separately.

Selection boxes can be good value, but sometimes they work out more expensive than buying each product by itself.

In other news, TK Maxx shoppers have spotted rare KitKat flavours that have never officially been launched in the UK.

Plus Terry’s Chocolate Orange fans are going wild for ‘new favourite’ chocolate bar spotted on supermarket shelves.

And Aldi shoppers have spotted a ‘crazy’ new Christmas flavour by Walkers crisps.
